Why is an area gray (Insufficient data)?

Gray means recent official data is missing, too old or too small to classify. It never means there's no disease.

An area is gray when OutbreakWatch can't classify it responsibly. Common reasons:

  • The country hasn't reported recently (for example, nothing in the last 4–8 weeks).
  • Too few samples were tested to give a reliable percentage.
  • There isn't enough history yet to compare against.
  • The agency doesn't publish data for that level of detail (for example, cities).

Open the place to see the exact reason under "Why gray".

Missing reports don't mean no infections. Follow everyday precautions and official guidance wherever you are.
